Contest Period & Purpose
Our 13th annual Christmas Pet Photo Contest on Facebook begins December 1, 2025 and runs through December 19, 2025 at 4:00 pm EST. Humane societies and animal sanctuaries throughout the State of Maine will receive donation proceeds based on entries on their behalf.
How the Contest Works
- An individual submits a photo entry and designates a Maine-based, eligible animal shelter/humane society to receive the donation.
- The selected shelter receives $1.00 for each entry submitted on its behalf.
- If a shelter receives more than 25 entries, every entry from #26 onward will trigger a $2.00 donation.
- The photo entry with the highest number of Facebook “Likes” wins an additional $100 donation for the chosen shelter.
- Previous winners of our Christmas Pet Photo and Patriotic Pet Photo contests are eligible for entry (and their entries will still earn the per-entry donation), but are ineligible to win the additional $100 prize.
- All shelters will receive the per-entry donation regardless of which photo wins the top prize.
Entry & Eligibility Conditions
- Only one entry per household is permitted.
- Entries must be submitted by Maine residents only.
- Each entry must include: entrant’s name, mailing address, email address, phone number, pet(s)’ name and the name of the chosen shelter.
- The photo must be original, belong to the entrant, and cannot depict another person’s pet without permission.
- Photo clarity: high-resolution (minimum 300 dpi) image quality.
- Entrants must submit the photo and entry information via the official contest form below.
- Winners must be willing to participate in a follow-up photo for FAPCO’s Facebook page, local newspaper or other marketing channel.
- Benefiting shelters must be a registered non-profit organization.
- FAPCO employees and their immediate family members may enter but are not eligible to win the additional prize.
- There is a cap of $400 in donation per shelter via the per-entry donation mechanism. If a shelter has reached that cap and still receives the most “Likes,” it will still be eligible to receive the $100 prize — making the maximum possible donation to a single shelter $500.
- The winner (highest “Likes”) will be contacted by email and Facebook message. For questions, contact us via our Facebook page.
Additional Terms & Legal / Facebook Compliance
- By entering, each entrant grants to FAPCO the right to use the submitted photo, pet(s)’ name, entrant’s name and hometown (city/town only) in FAPCO’s marketing and advertising materials, in perpetuity, without further compensation.
- FAPCO reserves the right to approve or reject any entry at its discretion, and to interpret and apply these rules.
