Meet Your Agent – Troy Heald

Today we would like you to meet your agent, Troy Heald. Troy manages our Northern Maine, which includes Caribou, Madawaska & Norstate Insurance Services. He grew up in the Washburn Area and attended schools in Woodland & Washburn and currently resides in Caribou.  He has lived in 5 different places, but all within a 15 mile radius. Troy is happily married to his wife, Marcy, and together they have two kids, Hannah & Martin.  He enjoys time with family, sports, camping and traveling to warmer climates.

Insurance Career

Troy began working in the insurance industry in 1994 after finishing his degree in Business Administration from Northern Maine Community College. He soon interviewed at a local insurance carrier and was granted an entry level position as a Scanner. In that position he placed all mail received into an electronic format. Troy worked at the carrier level until November of 2000 when he joined The F. A. Peabody Company in our Presque Isle office. During the fall of 2001 he moved to F. A. Peabody’s Caribou location, which was a new location for the company.

What He Has Learned

Troy  has learned the importance of having real relationships with people. He says, “Having good, strong relationships with others is foundational not only to this business but to life as a whole.  I’ve learned the importance of community involvement, service to others, and of having the right insurance to protect not only your assets, but your quality  of life as well.”  Troy loves his job and states when you love your job, it isn’t a job at all.

Stories He Could Tell

Having spent nearly 25 years in the insurance business, Troy says there are many stories he could tell, some great, and some less pleasant than others. All were learning experiences. Troy also spent 18 years in the volunteer fire department (from firefighter to chief) and there were several times when he responded to an emergency as a first responder. Then he could “change hats” and be the insurance agent who helped the client get through the insurance claim and eventually help them rebuild what they lost.

Who Would He Meet?

Troy was asked if there was anyone he could choose to meet or see again, who would it be. He stated it would be his grandfather Gerald Barnes. His family lost him to cancer when Troy was 10. He would really like to talk with him to tell him all that has happened since he passed and introduce him to the many family members he hasn’t yet met.
