Yesterday, Maine’s Department of Economic and Community Development announced that Caribou and three other communities joined the growing list of Certified Business-Friendly Communities. Caribou was specifically recognized for “efforts that have been made to streamline licensing and permitting processes to reduce turn-around time; effective utilization of the Caribou Economic Growth Council Loan Program; support of the active Downtown Development Program, which is part of the Downtown TIF District assisting with facade improvements, infrastructure improvements, economic development and marketing; and strong collaboration with the Caribou Economic Growth Council, Caribou Area Chamber of Commerce, Leaders Encouraging Aroostook Development (LEAD) and Aroostook Partnership for Progress. (APP).”
This morning, the F.A. Peabody Company’s Caribou branch received an email from Austin Bleess, City Manager, thanking them for the support. He said, “Being business friendly is something I take very seriously. It is with the assistance of business owners such as yourself that Caribou will continue to grow.”
The four cities listed this week – Caribou, Belfast, Hermon and South Portland – join 20 other Maine communities on the list, including two in which F.A. Peabody has offices – Lincoln and Presque Isle.
Congratulations Caribou! Keep up the good work!
