At 7:15 last night, a 4.0 magnitude earthquake hit Maine, 3 miles west of Hollis Center and 13 miles northwest of Biddeford, according to the Bangor Daily News.  Two hours later, a Facebook page called “I survived the 10/16/12 earthquake” had been created, and over 64,000 people “liked” it.  If you’re on Facebook much at all, and you probably are if you’ve found this blog, you knew almost immediately that the earthquake had occurred.  Fortunately, there seems to have been very little damage, something that has caused jokes and “memes” to pop up on the internet, such as this one:

When you’re serious about insurance, like we are at F.A. Peabody, you know that a regular homeowners policy doesn’t cover earthquake damage.  It may be easily available to you, though, so call your local office to find out for sure.

We may have escaped this natural disaster unscathed, but remember, winter is coming!
