The Health Services Foundation in
Houlton, Maine, has been raising funds for Houlton Regional Hospital
and other healthcare facilities in Maine since 1983. This weekend
brings its largest annual event, the County Open.

This year, the Health
Services Foundation
has reached a milestone by giving over
$2,000,000 back to community healthcare. Prior projects have
included funding for nuclear medicine equipment, radiology expansion,
pediatric unit expansion and state-of-the-art digital mammography
equipment.

Although Houlton Regional Hospital has
not given the Foundation a specific project request this year,
Elizabeth Dulin, the Executive Director of the Health Services
Foundation, says that they will save up all of this years funds
raised to use for the inevitable needs of 2013. In a recent letter
to County Open sponsors, the Foundation says, “It is absolutely
Vital we continue our role
in supporting the Health & Wellness of all those We
Serve.
Foundation financial
assistance to our healthcare agencies will allow for the very best
possible healthcare options to all those They Serve.

Other
popular fund raising events include the annual diamond raffle and
charity auction. The County Open
is an annual golf tournament, half marathon race and gala dinner, and
is very popular around the community. In 23 years, the event has
raised over $490,000 for the Foundation. It starts with a golf
scramble tomorrow, tournament Saturday and Sunday, dinner on Saturday
night, and running events next weekend.
