Once again this year, the Insurance Association of Greater Houlton is holding a clothing drive to benefit Catholic Charities of Maine.  Catholic Charities is based in Caribou, and provides food for 25 food pantries, from St. Francis to Wytopitlock.

Last year, 9000 pounds of clothing, 300 pairs of shoes and 200 purses were collected.  The clothing is sent overseas to an organization that buys them by the pound and distributes them to needy people.  The proceeds are used by Catholic Charities to buy food for local food pantries, which in turn help County people.

While your cleaning out your closets and digging out the winter clothes, bring your extra clothing, purses, belts and shoes to the Houlton F.A. Peabody office at 29 North Street.  For more information, contact Mary Jane Cleary at 521-5705.
