The Pine Tree Chapter of the American Red Cross is looking for nominations for the 15th Annual  Real Heroes Awards.  The organization asks in its press release, “Do you know a person or group of individuals who performed an act of heroism this past year?  Your local American Red Cross is looking for real heroes in Aroostook County – people whose courage, kindness and unselfish acts deserve public recognition.”

Last spring, local heroes were honored at a breakfast in Presque Isle.  F.A. Peabody’s Wendell Wood and Andrew Peabody were recognized for their efforts in saving the life of a woman badly injured in an ATV accident in Monticello.  More details about this act, as well as the courageous acts of the other heroes, can be found here.
