We are pleased to announce that our own Ken White has been named as the Maine Insurance Agents Association’s president for 2013!

Ken started working in insurance part-time for his father’s agency while attending college.  After graduating from the University of Maine with a Business degree, he did a brief stint in management with a large retail company.  He quickly realized, however, that retail was not for him and came back to the insurance industry full time as a producer for FA Peabody Company in 1994.  Ken is the branch manager of the Hampden office and in 2012 he was named the Sales Manager and Vice President of Sales for the entire company.

Ken became involved with the Independent Agents Association in 1995 when he joined the Maine Young Agents Committee.  He was the committee chairperson in 2000, held the position of chairperson for the Agent/Company golf outing from 1997-2004, and was named the Swett & Crawford Young Agent of the Year in 2001 and 2006.  In 2002, Ken was appointed as the chairperson for the MIAA’s Education Committee.  In 2004, Ken was appointed to the National Young Agents Committee representing the North Eastern Region (Maine to Pennsylvania), a position he held until 2008.  Since 2005, Ken has been the moderator of the President’s Panel Discussion at the Annual MIAA Convention.  In 2008, Ken was appointed to the MIAA Board of Directors and was installed as President at the Annual Convention in April of 2013.

Outside of the industry, Ken has been involved in numerous community activities.  He is currently involved with the Hampden Business Association, Maine Savings Federal Credit Union’s Supervisory Committee, and the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce.  Past activities include volunteering at the summer and winter Special Olympics, Hampden Children’s Day, Hampden Community Blood Drives, being a member of the Hampden Kiwanis Club, a Trustee for the Hampden Water District, a member of the TDS Community Advisory Board, and is a 3-time participant in the Maine Lung Association’s Trek Across Maine.

Ken lives in Hampden with his wife Heidi and their 3 children, Kaitlyn, Evan, and Kaiden.
