When Spud Speedway opened for the summer, they announced participation in the “Save Speed 4 the Track” program, which was developed to help teenagers use racing as a safer outlet for their desire to drive fast, and to teach them to drive more safely on the streets.  The program was started in memory of Jeffery Letellier, a 17 year old from Hollis, Maine, who was killed when the vehicle in which he was a passenger sped through an intersection and collided with another vehicle.  Jeffery had been very active in racing competitions.  See more here:  http://www.savespeed4thetrack.org/
