In order to do your best to prepare your family financially after you die, life insurance is a must. We know it’s not always something you like to think about, but you can have peace of mind by taking a little time and putting a good plan in place for your family.
There are many reasons why you should have life insurance. Not the least of which is the peace of mind that your family will have when you remove some financial barriers that often occur when a caregiver dies.
Our life insurance can help cover things like:
- Burial costs
- Retirement for your spouse
- Your children’s college education
- Outstanding Debts
- Charitable contributions
- And more!
We’ll Take The Mystery Out Of The Process
There are several different types of life insurance, and choosing the right one for you and your family can seem daunting. Our life agents are prepared to help make the process easy, and will explain each option thoroughly. Meanwhile, here are some basics.
The two major types of life insurance policies are:
Term Life Insurance:
- Provides coverage for a specific period of life, or “term”
- Has typically lower premiums
- Rates can change after said term expires
- Can’t build any cash value
Whole Life Insurance:
- Provides protection for your whole life, not just during a specific time frame
- Can build cash value as well as equity
- Typically has higher premiums than term plans, but often becomes more valuable over time
Using an independent agent to buy your coverage makes sense, even if you already have life insurance through your employer. For instance, unlike your job coverage, our coverage stays with you when you change jobs. Also, employer-provided policies often only provide one year’s salary in the event of your death, while our policies have much higher coverage amounts available. In addition, the prices are probably much more reasonable than you might think.
Next, after you have the coverage you need, we recommend meeting with an estate planner to create a plan. Communicate with your family about contact information and what coverage is there, so there are no surprises. In other words, having a solid, well-communicated plan will reduce the emotional stress on your family in an already difficult time.
So, we know that you want to give your family the best coverage possible for their future. We’d like to help by getting you the policy that works best for you. To find out more about our services, please contact us.
